Creating a new neighbourhood for local people
Our vision is to redevelop this site to create a high-quality, attractive and sustainable residential development of around 50 homes that responds positively to its surroundings and reflects the character of the local area.
The site occupies a sustainable location, with a bus stop at the entrance, a pavement linking directly to the primary school, and convenient access to local amenities.
Whilst the site lies within the Green Belt, it is previously developed land containing approximately 92,000 sq ft of existing built floorspace. National and local planning policy supports the redevelopment of previously developed land in sustainable locations to help meet housing needs. The proposals would replace the existing development with a substantially reduced amount of built floorspace, creating a more appropriate, lower-density form of development comprising smaller buildings set within a landscape-led design that responds positively to the character of the surrounding area.
The aim is not simply to build new homes, but to create a place that:
✓ Responds positively to its surroundings
✓ Reflects the character of the local area
✓ Provides homes for a range of local residents
✓ Incorporates high-quality landscaping and green spaces
✓ Enhances biodiversity and ecology
✓ Creates a safe, attractive and welcoming environment
✓ Delivers high-quality streets and public spaces
✓ Encourages healthy and sustainable lifestyles
The project team is carefully considering how the development can become a positive addition to the area and an attractive place for future residents.
The proposed development aims to provide a range of homes to meet local needs. While the detailed layout remains under consideration, it is anticipated that the scheme could include family homes, properties for first-time buyers, smaller homes, and accommodation suitable for older residents and downsizers.
Providing a mix of homes can help create a balanced, sustainable and thriving community.
